Beer Can Gear:
- Bayou Classic Stainless-Steel ChickCAN Rack
. This is the model we use so we Chick-Can keep the bird from doing a face-plant on the grill, in stock at Amazon for a mere 11.49.
- Charbroil Folding Chicken Roaster
.
This collapsible job fits in your drawers after a hard day of chicken grillin. Hard to go wrong for 8 bucks.
- Stainless-Steel Beer-Can Chicken Rack with Drip Pan
. From Grill Guru Steve Raichlen comes a stainless steel solution for the Cadillac of beer can racks. Replacing the standard can with an easy to clean stainless container and drip pan, it has everything you need to fire up the grill, and rock the Beer Can bird business.
- The Weber Chimney Starter
.
A good chimney starter gets your coals going faster and more evenly.
- Camp Chef Turkey Cannon It’s a Turkey Cannon fer cryin out loud! We have a close friend does his Thanksgiving bird on this every year who raves. You be the judge. Same principle as the Beer Can Roaster, but built from enough stainless steel to roast Big Bird.
- Weber 22.5-Inch One-Touch Silver Kettle Grill, Black
. This baby does the heavy lifting around here. This is a tried and true workhorse, which we use frequently.
- Weber Performer Charcoal Grill, Black
. The Full Monty model. Although it’s a bit pricey — the built in table, propane coal ignition and sturdy cart on wheels looks like some super-fly additions to us. For over 300 bucks though, you make the call!
- Weber Char-Basket Charcoal Briquette Holders
. Keep those coals in line! Makes nice, even indirect heat a cinch.
- Stainless-Steel 3-Piece Barbecue Tool Set
. Tools of the trade. Stainless gets our vote for BBQ tools every time. Check these out or shop around and compare with something similar on Amazon.
- Weber Aluminum Drip Pans
Drip pans, with an inch or so of water will collect the drippings and keep them from flaming up when doing indirect heat. You can pick up a package of 10 about 7 bucks — one of the better prices we’ve seen
on these.
- Taylor Classic Instant-Read Pocket Thermometer
. You will thank us. Why buy the expensive digital job that can’t take the heat when you can pick one of these up for 5 bucks on Amazon?
- Weber Replacement Hinged Cooking Grate.
If your grill looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon consider tossing it. The hinged replacement rack makes stoking the coals while you are grilling so much easier. All you have to do is lift the hinged section to add a few more coals — no more moving the hot chicken to get stoked.
